Philosophy
Cedar Ark Academy believes:
Students thrive in a setting where they are known, understood and valued;
Children naturally love to learn and are internally motivated;
Children should learn at their own pace and level;
Children who learn to understand and get along with others different than themselves are the hope for peace in the world.
In addition to acquiring basic skills, students need to deepen their understanding of the world around them and develop higher level thinking skills. Students learn best when teachers use a variety of instructional styles such as discussions, team and group learning, long term projects, student presentations and independent study. Students may pursue their independent interests as they communicate and research beyond the classroom walls.
Students will learn that all knowledge is interrelated into a whole rather than a compartmentalized series of "things."
